Thank you for this. I had no idea that these clowns are considering this. It’s so obvious the orange one and his lackeys want to destroy all that is good. We love our credit union and wouldn’t think of big banking again!! I’ll spread as much of this message as possible. 💙💙💙

Thank you for spreading the word -- I really hope we can all get enough people to care that we can save credit unions.

I've been in the San Francisco Fire Credit Union since 1989. While many regulations have changed, back in those days, one generally needed what is known as a "field of membership" to join. Mine was my father, a San Francisco Firefighter.

I walked into their - then - one and only office and asked to apply. (They now have three!) Also, at that time, many of the staff were actual firefighters. I went up and asked to apply and when I told them my father's name, the guy broke out in a huge grin and said "Ah, Dickie... a legend in his own mind!"

We laughed and joked a bit, filled out the paperwork, and I had a checking and savings account, and a new VISA credit card. I never showed an ID. (At some point after - maybe a couple of years later - I did need to show and put a driver license on file for updated federal rules.)

In 1994, when I put Victor on the account, we were the first openly gay couple to have a joint account. It kinda flustered the poor guy who was doing it - he was really unsure how to list Victor on the account since the form at the time only listed "Spouse" so he had to go off to confer with folks. We were registered SF Domestic Partners. We actually had a lot of fun with it.

They were our one and only account until moving east - held our mortgage, and everything else. 3000 miles made it difficult to do regular banking - and they didn't do mortgages out-of-state. Stores didn't always like taking out-of-state checks - even with our local address printed on them - making deposits, et al, were difficult, so we opened an account with a local bank who has been bought three times and is now one of the behemoths.

We're still SFFCU members. Two weeks ago, I received an email from them explaining the new tax and contacted all of my Reps - and received replies back that they were against.

I love my credit union!

I think that's GREAT. The odd thing is that when you lived here, in the parking lot of your employer, since 1997, there's been a great credit union (Trumark) - and I belong there. It's a community credit union, meaning that the only requirements are that you live in one of their zip codes, and that you always leave $5 in your primary share account.

Every time they open a new office, they have a "festival" where you can (just for that one day) get a CD with a spectacular rate, plus in the parking lot they have foods and drinks and swag.

They're really great!

That was the only place I could do a deposit to SFFCU - and it was a hassle back then! When we first moved, we needed a local bank fairly quickly - and I didn't know the Gateway Center even existed. Lancaster Ave was our main shopping thoroughfare. We went to good ol' First Union because they were mere blocks away at the time. We found out later they had a horrible reputation, but the people in our branch were really great.

Thank you!!! Sharing every way I can. The latest attacks on Planned Parenthood were bad enough. It seems there is no end to the creative ways they can think up to screw the middle and lower classes.

I use a small local savings bank for my daily banking business close by to where I live. Have done business with them for many years and am more than satisfied with their services. But I will do some contacting as time permits.

THANKS for contacting your reps. Even if you don't use a credit union, they're a real boon to a lot of us, and I'd hate to lose ours! Glad you're will a small local bank -- they're SOOOOO much better than the behemoths.

Hopefully, the many members of several military-associated credit unions (such as Pentagon Federal) will speak out - they might get more attention.
