From the Brennan Foundation:

The Insurrection Act does not authorize martial law. The term “martial law” has no established definition, but it is generally understood as a power that allows the military to take over the role of civilian government in an emergency. By contrast, the Insurrection Act generally permits the military to assist civilian authorities (whether state or federal), not take their place. Under current law, the president has no authority to declare martial law.

Absolutely correct. It's why they need the governors. Nor do I think they'll do what is in the various versions of projection I've seen.

HOWEVER - the regime does a lot of things that are illegal (it's why they keep losing in court). And I foresee them doing a lot of BAD THINGS if there is not enough blowback SOON regarding tariffs and Medicaid.

So I like being prepared for the worst, but expecting it won't come to that.

How does one reach you on signal? I just downloaded it.

I've been researching the French resistance for decades (since W was appointed.) That said, I took my name from Sophie Scholl.

Cheer up, the worst is yet to come.. A horror movie indeed but it is in the MAGA plan. Preparing for the resistance to a panned fascist regime can't hurt, all the while hoping that some of the GOP reps in the Congress will finally break with der Fuehrer Trompf's mishugas.

I believe in planning. I would rather be prepared than unprepared, although, like you, I'm hoping that the idiots realize their problem is NOT with primary challenges from the right, but outright losing in November of 2026.
