Thanks Unc. I'm pretty sure Florida will pass the abortion legislation -- we just need more MEN to support it! And I think we're closer that others think about beating Scott. It would be incredible if we took a few contested House seats and that Harris-Walz won, but I'm less optimistic.
Jessica, happy birthday!! I will definitely contribute, but more likely for your half-birthday (we have a lot going on right now). I do know about this! My partner took a little sabbatical from work in IT (unpaid, ie she quit). Wouldn't you know it, she was diagnosed with breast cancer (the less usual kind that doesn't show on mammograms). Although she was on my work insurance (IBC), three surgeries, chemo and radiation later (over two insurance periods) we had completely depleted our savings on just the co-pays -- and our combined income is well above the median. Every day I wondered how most people manage this. Even non-profit hospital and insurers take a lien on people's houses (if they own) and garnish wages.
I hope that your partner is doing okay. If she ever wants to talk "cancer patient stuff" please have her call me. And yeah -- IT SUCKS what happens to people with medical bills. And one of the largest disparities is what insured and non-insured people pay.
One cancer treatment for me was about $16,000 for the infusion drug, plus a few hundred dollars for various administrative costs (not "administrative" overhead, but the actual cost of administration - extra drugs and such.) If I had no insurance, I'd owe the full boat. When insurance paid, that 16 came down to about $7,000 and they paid that. It's SO WRONG.
Happy Birthday, my sister in love!
Thank you brother I adore!
Happy Birthday Jessie and many more Happy & Healthy Birthdays. Will provide suggested gifts as able. Love, Unc
