None of this is new. It's merely reworking/rewording previous terms to address legal ambiguities.

Also, META does not geotag photos. However, if a USER uploads a photo with EXIF data attached, it could possibly be identified at some point - but it wouldn't be by META.. Meta explicitly requires consent to use location data from users. As by "Checking in" and activities such as that.

And to add insult to injury... anything you have already posted on a META platform is covered by the above.

The AI training parts are new, as that didn't used to be possible. It's a big problem in terms of what they'll get AI to do/use.

Also - there's a "Legacy Contact" part I didn't mention related to who can take over your account when you die.

I'm glad to be wrong about the geotags.

You're COMPLETELY CORRECT that anything already posted is covered.

AI has been mentioned specifically since 2018, and more specifically, sice 2020. AI really is only new to us plebs... The Techno's have been building, using, and studying it for much longer...

I work in tech. I am required to train on AI processes, I am required to integrate various AI functions in what I do for a living and I AM NOT A TECHIE - but my team are almost all techies. There was middling interest in AI applications until last year when it became SUCH A THING -- most people I know in corporate America have AI requirements of all sorts. It is REALLY painful to watch. PLUS -- I don't want AI stealing my written content - my voice is unique -- I want AI to do things like clean my kitchen so that I can spend more time writing....I am NOT a fan of AI.

I don't remember studying any prior terms of service to know what they're changing. Other than there are more/newer services under the big umbrella.

The new ones are more onerous.

The terms about sharing say "consistent with your settings." I have everything set to "Friends Only" - shouldn't that stop FB from using ny of my content?

That's what YOU share, not what Facebook can share anyway they want. Section 3.3 part 1: "However, to provide our services we need you to give us some legal permissions (known as a "license") to use this content."
