As long as Schumer is Senate Minority Leader (what a fucking joke) I will NOT give a single cent to the Democratic Party. I will support individuals in my state and local, but the national party can kiss my ass.
The only pressure I can give is financial. So be it.
I stopped giving to the party years ago, I only give to candidates. And if AOC primaries him, she’ll certainly get money from me, as will who member challenges Fetterman.
Thank you for raising this issue -- I was hoping someone would. There is a HUGE difference between a vote that messages "you did a bad thing" and a vote that will directly cause the death of thousands (if not tens of thousands) of people.
Once again those on the good side advocate renewal of our usual circular firing squad, more concerned with internal strife than a unified approach. Hating those with whom you disagree and cancelling them for their differences makes little sense. Yes, der Fuehrer Tromph tries to ignore the Courts, but so far we are winning even up to SCOTUS. Giving MAGA license to turn that around with a shutdown is what Schumer, his few outlier Senators, and me were concerned about.
I understand your frustration and anger and I am just as frustrated and angry. Still---at the risk I am only provoking furious responses, I am not convinced that Schumer was wrong in opting to surrender to a superior force. Given the shutdown to follow, Der Fuehrer Tromph could do just about anything, trample over laws and regulations without Congressional action or authority and probably successfully withstand any Judicial interference on pleas of only coping with an obviously dire emergency.
Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.
They would have had 30 days to make some changes. He could have negotiated prior to the bill for concessions. In certain ways, it doesn't matter if the government is opened or closed because the fascists are ignoring the courts and the rule of law. You do NOT collaborate. You do NOT make anything easier for them. Schumer is paying a huge price, and while he may stay Minority Leader for a time, his Senate career is pretty much over.

I completely agree with this and sent the DNC an email telling them exactly that.
Awesome!
So Fetterman's a quisling, but Houlihan isn't. Not sure you can have it both ways....

I understand your position, I really do. I believe that, tactically, this was the wrong choice.
