Congratulations to MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times, large donors from the world of Hollywood led by Ari Emanuel, Barry Diller and Reed Hastings, and a smattering of elected Democratic officials led by Mark Warner, Lloyd Doggett, Raúl Grijalva, Seth Moulton, Mike Quigley and Angie Craig. You are winning the war to make sure that Convicted Felon Trump wins the White House in November, and that we lose both the House and Senate.
Let’s start with media. They are focused with pinpoint precision on the idea that President Biden is done due to his performance at the debate. There’s not even the pretense of both-sides-ism. No one has mentioned that Convicted Felon Trump slept through most of his recent trial. No one is asking for a cognitive test for his comments on sharks and electric batteries. Why? They understand that if the GOP wins, and Project 2025 is implemented, much of the media will be shut down and they are trying to avoid that fate. They don’t realize that the fix is already in. In addition, if you look/watch MSM - they are so focused on President Biden’s debate performance that they give short shrift to things like Labour winning in Great Britain, the left winning in France, and oh yeah — how much have you heard/read about Project 2025?
Hollywood? In case you haven’t heard, they are withholding funds not only from the Biden campaign, but from the DNC until there is a new candidate. We can talk about how Citizens United and Dark Money PACs are to blame, but here is it, right out in the open. No money. And all of us voters with our $46 donations can’t make up the difference.
And those turncoat elected officials? If they were in the least honorable, they would stay quiet publicly and speak with Biden privately.
I wonder how many of them will say in early November “Gee, I guess if Biden had stayed in, we might have won.”
The most recent polling from Bloomberg/Morning Consult (July 1 - 5; 4,900 voters in swing states) shows President Biden’s position BETTER in the swing states than prior to the debate. Article link. Full results link. Is the president winning outright? Down by 2 points overall, but within the margin of error, and AHEAD in Michigan and Wisconsin. If the chattering class were correct, we’d see President Biden down by 10 points, or 20 points, not 2 points nationwide. If you’ve read my work, you know that I’m not a fan of polling — but the chattering class lives and dies by polls, so they should pay attention.
What none of these malcontents is focused on is the following:
All the voters who had planned to vote for President Biden will still vote for him if he’s on the ballot.
Most of the “I hate both of them” voters have still not made up their minds, and the Democratic Party (independent of the Biden-Harris campaign) has not been driving home the point that if they want to keep things like health care (including abortion and birth control), LGBTQIA+ rights, public education, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, SNAP, the EPA and the list goes on and on… there is only one choice and it is NOT the Republican side.
If the Republicans win, taxes go down for the rich and corporations, and up for everyone else.
If the Republicans win, Ukraine will fall, and WW3 will overtake the world as Putin marches forward into Europe.
Allan Lichtman, the historian who called the last 9 of 10 presidential races correctly (including 2016) using his own markers, says Biden should stay in. Some info here, and here.
But let’s pretend that President Biden is not up to the task of both running the country and campaigning. WTF are these people doing? No one can force President Biden out of the race, he has to quit on his own. The party and the donors could have kept quiet, and spoken to him, and potentially convinced him to withdraw. But all they are doing, by publicly yelling, is weakening both his candidacy and the candidacy of anyone who might run in his place.
They’re also COMPLETELY missing the point. While we elect a president, that person is not just a person, they are the head of a party, with a platform, and framework of programs and policies to (hopefully) be implemented.
Does everyone want Project 2025? And in case you haven’t read it yet (AND YOU SHOULD), here’s a summary of some of the “high” points.
While this battle is, at the current time, between President Biden and Convicted Felon Trump, it is moreover an existential war between good and evil. It is the fundamental question of whether we survive as a nation or end up a colony of Russia after the deaths of far too many of our young men and women.
It is not a stretch to imagine a country of elderly homeless people after Medicare and Social Security are taken away, and remember, thanks to MAGA-SCOTUS, they cannot sleep in public. Also, many dead women and girls who were denied abortions to save their lives. And let’s not forget the concentration camps for LGBTQIA+ people, people who are any religion other than Fundamentalist Christian, anyone who is not lily white, and everyone who is not MAGA. Our economy will crater after all immigrants are deported.
Scared?
Angry?
Take that feeling and focus it on winning in November. Find 5 people on the fence and convince them to vote blue up and down the ballot no matter who is at the top of the ticket. We cannot stop the cowardly elected officials, nor the money donors, nor the MSM. But we can reach people. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US CAN REACH PEOPLE. From Block Captains and canvassers, to phone dialers and texters, through those who write postcards….we can take action.
And we must. Please share this post.
As usual, you’ve stated everything correctly (and thanks for reminding me of Allan Lichtman-I heard his analysis and then forgot his name). All the people whose analysis and intelligence I most respect are supporting Biden’s continued candidacy. As I read through various contra opinion pieces they are filled with unsupported innuendo, logical fallacies and, utter fabrications.
