From my perspective, I keep my phone as locked down as possible when I leave my house, and the fact that the NSA said "shut it off once a week" and techies I know said "shut it down every day" -- that's good enough for me.
I use an AVG Browser and subscribe to their security and anti-virus programs. As far as I know, they have kept me pretty safe so far.
Oh how I wish none of this had to be a concern, but wishing won't make it so.
