Tools you can use

I have received a lot of requests for information on Project 2025. While everyone I know personally detests Project 2025, and Agenda 47, people are looking for tools they can use in talking to people who don’t yet know things.

As a complete aside before I get there, I have a story. (Yeah, I know, I ALWAYS have a story…sigh.) On Wednesday, we had an all-day working session at my job. Most people were in a room, and the rest of us (including yours truly) were remote. We remote people could see all the people in the room. (Ah, technology - love it when it works!)

People were re-assembling after lunch, and my boss’ boss (who was in the room) queried: “Jessica, are you still a passionate Democrat?”

What I SHOULD have said was that when he and I spoke about politics in 2016, he was a co-worker, and now he was a senior VP, plus the company has more than quadrupled in size, and it would be untoward for me to talk about politics in front of a group, and I’d be glad to phone him the next day.

I didn’t do that.

I LAUNCHED. (You can imagine.)

And then, the next morning, I TEAMS messaged him with the page numbers and sections in Project 2025 that would directly adversely impact our business, and potentially drive us out of business. He’s reviewing and has actually sent some questions.

In addition, when I met with my team the following morning (most of whom had been at the meeting) I apologized. Everyone on our team call was supportive of what I’d said, and the most interesting response came from the team member who lives and works in Casablanca, Morocco. He said that he was glad I was fighting because if America falls, Morocco falls, and then the whole world falls.

The upside to being me is that I will talk politics to anyone. That, along with being able to sleep with no problems in the center seat of an airplane, are my superpowers.

The downside of being me is that I will talk politics to anyone.

First, I have two versions of a handout. The one below, and another without the photo, and with a graphic for “Just Say No to Project 2025”. There doesn’t seem to be a way to attach a PDF to a Substack, and if you try and copy and print the handout, it will be ugly and the QR card won’t work. If you want a copy, send me a Substack message (this is how) with your email address and I’ll send you both copies.

Second, a friend of mine only likes videos, and she sent me this one. It starts with a history of how Project 2025 came to be before the presenter gets to the facts.

Third, when I want to tell people about Project 2025, Agenda 47 and the GOP Platform, I send them an email. This is the most formal version. You have permission to use all of it, some of it, or whatever you’d like.

Finally, it is incumbent upon you to KNOW Project 2025. The more you know, the more authoritative you will be. All this week, starting tonight, at 7pm eastern, Joy Reid will dedicate her show to detailing Project 2025. My guess is that she’ll do a great job. Grab a pad and a pen and take notes. It pays to know your “pick fave” issues from Project 2025 — to know the details and the impacts of the different chapters.

One other thing that you can do. Wear a message tee shirt everywhere you go. My current shirts (more on order) are:

When you wear a message tee shirt, people will talk to you unasked. Sometimes, they’ll just indicate that they’re with you. And yes, sometimes idiots will yell at you. (Just smile broadly and ignore them. If you’re me, you’d make a snarky comment, but you shouldn’t do that…)

I don’t advise bumper stickers because if your car is by itself, like in a parking lot, you could be vandalized.
