I’m curious … during your tally watching schedule, what sources/broadcasts are you going to. I thought I’d do my usual back and forth between MSNBC and CNN with maybe also a bit of CSPAN thrown in, but any recommendations welcome. For sure I’ll be tracking your Facebook posts as well!
I keep the TV tuned to MSNBC. On my iPad, I have tabs set up for the states I want to follow - you can google the name of the state plus "secretary of state and election returns" and you'll find the legit site. In addition, I keep up the county tracker for Chesco, because I care about my hyperlocal information. For any county, google the name of the county (plus the state) and "election returns."
Then, on my computer, I keep up the NYT election data, which allows you to go from state to state. Also on my computer, I keep up several news stations/newspapers - this year, I'll have Philly, Phoenix. Omaha, Detroit, and a few others. I don't keep them all open - but they nest in 'recently closed tabs' on Firefox, so they're easy to access.
On my phone, I lurk on Twitter, and they often have really quick info from the precinct levels, if you know who to follow for those counties.
Hope that helps -- and yeah, I realize that most people don't need that level of detail!
In 2000, a coworker was visiting and we had dinner with my boyfriend's parents, who were lifelong Republicans. We were at their house, and Ken threw Tommy and me out when Florida was called for Gore. I dropped Tommy off at his hotel, and came home to a ringing phone (it had been about 20 minutes) and it was Ken saying that Florida had flipped to Bush. I remember it so clearly -- and that was the ONLY election that sucked for weeks -- until the horror of 2020.
I think this year will be easier -- more violence in more places during the count and certification -- but there are groups who have started filing complaints to the state board when lawyers sign on to some of the idiot GOP election lawsuits, and then the lawyers drop. If they can't get lawyers, they can't file these suits -- which are only window dressing anyway since they won't win.
Stay hydrated -- it's going to be a long set of days.

It's going to be a Kamala Landslide.
From your lips....
Oh for the days when Election Night was fun, nail bighter or not, rather than fearful. Thanks to the TFG.
