I explained to the doctor that I needed my leg to work all the time because I needed to be out in the streets to help save democracy. He had been making some notes. He stopped, looked up, met my eyes, and asked "are you one of them?" I asked who he meant by "them" - and he said "the people convinced they can save us from the Nazis?" And I said, "yup, that's me". He hugged me.

Thank goodness it's not cancer. Be well! We need you!

I got a chuckle out of the fish tank advice. My first smile of the week.

As for Elon, I now think of him as Chainsaw El (remember Chainsaw Al who corporations would bring in to downsize?).

There are so many good reasons to keep USAID, not the least of which is to give the US eyes and ears in foreign countries. How stupid to abolish it, not to mention letting people die of diseases when the meds they need are rotting on piers, and the viruses just get stronger. I think they are trying to kill us again. Will it be ebola? God forbid.

And with all their money they begrudge us PBS?!?

Yes, big WHEW! that's it's not another round of cancer.

Thanks for the fish tank remark -- when we were kids, ALL doctors seemed to have fish tanks!

Even Rethuglicans are up in arms about USAID. And Little Marco certainly understands the situation. We'll see if he has any balls.

The WHO currently has an Ebola vaccine in testing near an outbreak in Africa.

They hate PBS because they hate knowledge.

Excellent re the Ebola vaccine testing. I remember we went through the attempt to defund PBS during the Bush II administration. Maybe one of the less stingy billionaires will rescue it.

The Gates Foundation is doing all they can for various diseases -- albeit I haven't heard that they're sponsoring any vaccine trials - but they ARE out there doing what they can on the medical front.

They always do. But will they pick up any slack from USAID or is that all on China now?

My guess is that China will step in throughout Africa. I further believe this is something that Elmo really wants, since he's more aligned with China than with the US. He uses the US exclusively a piggy bank.

As an aside, I predict that if Von Shitzenpants cuts off aid to Jordan and Egypt, Saudi Arabia and a few other gulf states will pick up THAT slack, so that the Palestinians can stay on their land.

The frightening news is even with Social Security wage records, they're pretty meaningless if the fuckwad's goon squad delete records. Employers are only required to keep payroll records for tax purposes for 4 years. If records are missing and one files an appeal, there is no verification of the data if it has been deleted by the employer. That paper record would be essentially worthless, as anyone with less than intermediate computer skills can alter a document.

What we NEED is an injunction against the illegal access to the system in the first place, and an injunction against Elmo.

Elmo is surrounded by toadies - many of them actually smart. He's getting his information from many sources. (He, himself, is not.)

And on a personal note, CONGRATS on the no cancer! I totally get the lovin' the legs! 2 hip replacements in 7 months have been miracle for me! Walking pain-free is, well... ENJOYABLE!! I have my final follow-up tomorrow morning.

I always took for granted the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other. While I've always been a proponent of public access, sidewalk ramp cuts and the like, I now realize how necessary full access really is, and how difficult it can be just getting from point A to point B.

The company I work for built a new building on the campus - lots of glass, nice architecture -- but the bathrooms are not ADA compliant, and I don't know how the building passed use and occupancy... when you open the door to the bathroom, there is a dog leg into the bathroom itself. Meaning if you are in a wheelchair, you cannot leave unless someone opens the door for you. The sinks are artistic, but you cannot fit a wheelchair under the sink to reach the water faucet, and the soap dispenser is even further back. I HATE when people pick form over function. I have spent time both in a wheelchair and a ton of time on crutches -- and I'm all in for ADA compliant. Thanks, I feel better now.

The injunction you want -- 3 court cases were filed last night.

The reason for the statements is so that when they screw around, you can say "it was this before you touched it" -- and while yeah, they can be manipulated - most (NOT ALL) but most older people aren't that tech savvy AND when there's a class action suit, it will show a pattern.

Hope your final follow-up goes swimmingly. And yeah NO CANCER!!!!!
