Jarod Koopman is an unsung hero.
Mr. Kooperman leads a small cybercrime team that has, amoungst other things:
Led to the rescue of 23 children from rape and assault
Led to the seizure of more than 250,000 child abuse videos
Led to the arrest of 370 pedophiles
Brought down Ross Ulbricht of Silk Road
Brought down a Secret Service agent and a DEA agent for stealing from Silk Road
Nailed Changpeng Zhao, the head of Binance (4-month prison sentence and a $50 million fine)
Fined Binance itself $4.3 billion
All in all, returned over $12 billion to the US Treasury, and crime victims.
As an aside, he’s a wine enthusiast, a Brazilian jujitsu black belt, a certified firearms and defensive tactics instructor, and has been married for more than 20 years to the woman he met the third day of college at Nazareth University, where he became a three-time all-American in lacrosse.
Who does Mr. Kooperman work for? The United States Internal Revenue Service: he heads the cybercrime division. As we plow through all that is political, we often forget about civil servants. You know, the people that Project 2025 wants to fire. Lots of elected MAGA heads think that the IRS will only go after “regular Americans” and thus want to cut funding. Like Mr. Koopman’s. I think he’s REALLY a hero. And maybe MAGA is in favor of those 370 “regular Americans” who are pedophiles.
When you are out canvassing, and talking to voters, ask them if they want pedophiles in their neighborhoods. Ask them if abducted child victims deserve rescue. Then point out what the IRS has done.
You can read all about him at this link. (It’s supposed to get you behind the firewall, let me know if I screwed up the link - the full details of how Koopman and his team brought down everyone is incredible and fascinating and everyone should read more about him.)
That's encouraging.
To paraphrase a phrase: Here's the rub !
Why aren't VP Harris and Gov. Walz talking about people like Jared Koopman instead of repeatedly repeating political slogans and pie in the sky promises? There are a mountain high of great stories to tell about this administration that have never been brought to the attention of the great unwashed. Biden was a lousy messenger and the VP did not try to outdo him. People are impressed by real stories of unusual accomplishment, not slogans and promises. Perhaps it's too late, but this campaign leaves me cold and scared.
