You probably don’t (thankfully) know who Danny Lemoi was, but he was a Telegram star whose followers “learned” from him how “great” ivermectin was as a cure-all for all sorts of things, and not just Covid. Early in March, he died of the side effects of ivermectin, and now some of his followers are questioning their side effects. More info.
This is what happens when people choose influencers over science.
The Paris Agricultural Show in late February turned into a 600,000-person measles superspreader event. The virus has now been identified in Île-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Normandy, and Occitanie. One known cluster began with a student from Côte-Saint-André high school, who reportedly caught the virus during the fair and brought it back home.
“From January 1 to March 14, 2025, 180 cases of measles were reported compared to 83 over the same period in 2024, i.e., a little more than double," according to the French Public xHealth Agency. Source.
This is what happens when people choose anti-vaxxers over science. It’s not just Americans who fall prey to nonsense.
And when they believe the real lunatics, like Worm Brain, really bad things happen. For example, Worm Brain pushes Vitamin A as a treatment for measles. What are they now seeing in Texas hospitals? Kids with measles in the hospital who have Vitamin A toxicity with attendant liver problems, AND measles. Not making this up.
Add to this yesterday’s purge at HHS. From Politico:
The high-profile cuts: At the FDA, Peter Stein and the policy shop inside the Office of New Drugs were axed, top tobacco regulator Brian King was put on leave, and Office of Strategic Programs and leader Sridhar Mantha were cut. The top veterinarian working on bird flu was pushed out, per WSJ’s Liz Essley Whyte. And National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Jeanne Marrazzo was let go, CNN’s Nick Valencia, Brenda Goodman, Rene Marsh and Meg Tirrell report. Many comms staffers were shown the door, while “H.I.V. prevention was a big target overall,” NYT’s Sheryl Gay Stolberg, Christina Jewett and Apoorva Mandavilli report.
In the cold: Per AP’s Carla Johnson, at least four of 27 NIH institute/center directors were put on leave. Some senior staffers “were offered a possible transfer to the Indian Health Service in locations including Alaska and given until end of Wednesday to respond.”
This is in addition to the 10,000 HHS employees who took early buyout, and the additional 10,000 rank and file who were part of the purge.
Bleak.
Really bleak.
So what do we regular people do?
First, only get your health and medical information from sources you are 100% absolutely positive that you can trust. It can be the difference between life and death. Remember that just because someone has letters behind their name doesn’t mean that they can be trusted.
Second, if you are on any kind of medication, think about where you can source it if it ends up banned in the US. I know several people who take a cruise annually to Mexico to buy meds, albeit they’ve been doing it for years since it’s so much cheaper than in the US. Certain meds can also be mail ordered from Canada and Israel.
Third, find out about your local Board of Health, and make use of the services. For example, where I live, the Board has monthly meetings that are open to the public, and they produce a newsletter on health issues of concern in the county. The associated Health Department offers vaccinations, clinical services, environmental health programs and community educational services. Remember the importance of the local health services when you vote for local candidates!
Fourth, keep pressuring your elected reps.
Finally, do everything you can to get/stay healthy.
Who would have thought in the 21st century some folks would be acting like we were in the dark ages? The insanity of today's environment is leaching itself into every aspect of our lives. As you keep saying we have the power to vote these people out of office. But you're not saying, do we really trust anybody these days to do the right and moral thing or do they do what suits them best?
Now that der Fuehrer and Worm Brain have done what could to deplete the vulnerable population and destroy the nation's Health Care System, can't wait to see what the former will do today to try to destroy the World economy.
Nonetheless, yesterday's election results give us cause to hope that the GOP will begin to turn.
