Happy Birthday Fiona. Loved the column, In people years, has she as yet reached my stage of decrepitude ?

Fiona says THANK YOU WOOF WOOF. They used to say 7 dog years for every human year, which would make her 98. However, there has been consideration given that growth (in years) is higher for larger dogs and lower for smaller dogs in the first two years, and then 4 dog years per human year -- under the new calculation, she would be 62. So it's hard to tell. We just keep loving her!

Happy Birthday, Fiona!! What's the injectable, and where is she getting it?

Fiona says THANK YOU WOOF WOOF -- it's called Librela - it's a monoclonal antibody. She gets it from her vet (Sugartown Vet in Malvern) - but I know it's available all over because I heard about it from a friend who gets it for her dog out in California. There is some anecdotal information that it's bad for older dogs with cognitive impairment -- but Fiona doesn't have that, and she has responded miraculously to it. About 3 days after her first shot, she was able to go up the stairs for the first time in a long time (I wish I'd known about it earlier). Dosage is 4, 5 or 6 weeks depending on when it starts to wear off -- Fiona gets it every 5 weeks.
