Today’s story occurred at the Wawa. For those of you who don’t live in an area with a Wawa, it is the epitome of what a convenience store should be. As an aside, my husband wants to move to a state where there are no Wawas, and I have told him to enjoy being divorced.
Anyway.
I was at the Wawa counter with my purchase (coffee and a soft pretzel, quintessential Philly breakfast) and the guy taking my money reminded me to stay cool since today was going to be a scorcher.
I reminded him to stay hydrated, and if he had dogs, to check the pavement before walking them (put down your palm for 5 seconds) – if it’s too hot for you, it will burn their paws so keep them on the grass.
The lady in line behind me said “I didn’t know that. That’s a great tip. Do you have any others?”
I said “YES!!! Roevember is coming, remember to vote.”
The guy behind the counter said “He looks like a sympathetic victim, but I have a two-year-old daughter. I’ll be there, with my wife and our in-laws. Straight blue.”
The lady said she didn’t know this was a big deal election. I waited for her, walked her outside, checked her registration on my phone, gave her a link on her phone to Project 2025, took her email and will be “helping” her.
Voters are everywhere. GO GET ME A VOTER!
