Amusement galore!

So there’s this guy who collects recipes from famous (and not so famous) elected officials. He’s got a website called “Cookin’ with Congress.” His tag line: Real Recipes, Real Politicians, Real Nasty. As usual, not making this up. Of course, I was fascinated. You can find things like President John Quincy Adams's "Golden Alligator Spring House Cake" and Democratic State Vice Chair Wilma Dodd's "Crackerass".

Until I went through his site, I never thought I’d be able to work “crackerass” into a sentence.

Presumed co-conspirator NUMERO UNO, aka Rudy Giuliani, tried to send the following text message to Republican state lawmakers:

“So I need you to pass a joint resolution from the Michigan legislature that states that, *the election is in dispute,* there’s an ongoing investigation by the Legislature, and * the Electors sent by Governor Whitmer are not the official Electors of the State of Michigan and do not fall within the Safe Harbor deadline of Dec 8 under Michigan Law.”

You can legally bet on politics in the US again. PredictIT has been in business for a while, and Kalshi is a start-up. Interactive Brokers does a lot of broker-like-things, is recommended by the Wall Street Journal, and is highly rated as a broker by organizations I’ve never heard of, and launched their political wagering section yesterday afternoon.

Thursday was sentencing day, and she actually said that she deserved probation because:

“I'm not a criminal and I don't deserve to go into a prison where other people have committed heinous crimes.”

Meanwhile, in giving her a 9 year sentence, District Judge Matthew Barrett said:

“Your lies are well documented, and these convictions are serious. I'm convinced you would do it all over again if you could. You're as defiant as a defendant as this Court has never seen.

There are many things in my mind that are crystal clear about this case, you are no hero. You abused your position, and you're a charlatan who used and is still using your prior position in office to peddle a snake oil that's been proven to be junk, time and time again.”

Hope you are as amused as I am.

I have an assignment for “the campaign” to write some scripts for canvassers who will target persuadable voters. I’ve been working on the project, and believe it or not, it’s harder to put it into the written word for others as opposed to just letting things fall out of my mouth.

REALLY looking forward to doing my Civics Presentation in a couple weeks. I have an interactivity set up where the people in the audience will play various roles related to a local civic action. If you’ve ever been to any interactivity I’ve done over the years, you KNOW that this will involve “secret file cards”.

I’m off tomorrow, like every Saturday, and Sunday’s post is long and involved and looks at the polarization of men and women as related to politics.

Monday’s post is something I’ve actively avoided writing about, because it is the most fraught of all topics, but the time has come.
