It’s Election Day. You go to the polls like you’ve done in years past. You walk in, provide your name, and you’re told that you are not listed on the Voter Rolls. Think this can’t happen to you? Read on.
Right now, in plain sight, Georgia has a website where anyone can purge voters from the rolls. They don’t even need to know the person, and the site is riddled with issues. Source. In Ohio, the Secretary of State is purging “presumed” non-citizens. Meaning it could include anyone with a “non-American sounding” name. Source. And those things are above the radar.
When I was out recently doing Block-Captain-Things, I found a voter who had voted last November in the General, albeit not in this year’s primary. She was no longer on the rolls. Voter Services was unable to explain to my personal satisfaction what had happened, but my neighbor has now been re-registered for this year.
THE RETHUGLICANS WORK AT MAKING VOTER SUPPRESSION AN ART FORM.
IT IS INCUMBENT UPON US TO FIGHT BACK!
Step 1: CHECK THAT YOUR REGISTRATION IS CURRENTLY VALID
If you Google “Can I Vote”, you’ll be taken here, just click on the link shown below. The direct link is here. But if you forget, just Google “Can I Vote”.
Then, scroll down
When you click the link, you’ll be able to select your state, and follow the instructions, which differ for each state. It will show if you are currently registered at your present address with your selected party of choice.
Step 2: TAKE NO CHANCES!
Check your registration, and that of your family every week or two until the election, or until you receive your mail-in ballot, if you have previously registered for one. As an aside, there are links on the main page to access your state’s process to apply for a mail-in ballot.
If you know people living abroad, they should check their registration in the state in which they last lived before moving overseas. If they need help, the source is Democrats Abroad.
Step 3: SHARE THIS INFORMATION
Share this post with everyone you know and encourage them to check their registration. Some states require information to check voter registration status, like birthdates and/or Driver’s License numbers, or other personal information you might not have if you want to check other people’s registrations.
This is going to be a razor-thin margin election, and we need every vote. We do not want people to be excluded because they were dropped, purposely or inadvertently from the rolls.
It would do my heart good if you would check YOUR registration, and then, in the comments, let me know that you’ve checked and you are all set. If you have been purged, and need help getting re-registered, just message me and I’ll help you.
I checked. My family members all have an Active status. So excited to have a first-time voter for this election!
I checked last week to see if I’m on Delco rolls & still getting a mail in ballot for this Nov. (I had gotten a mai in so in the mail a couple of weeks ago. That’s why I was checking my status
