Normally, vetting and selecting a vice-presidential candidate takes a lot longer, but the time just wasn’t there for Vice President Harris.

So let’s meet our candidate Timothy James Walz. (It’s pronounced “Walls”.) You can get the lowdown from any news source – I’m going to give you just the fun facts you’ll likely not see elsewhere.

First fun fact: When Walz was a high school social studies teacher in Mankato, MN, he also coached the football team. One year the team won the state title. That same year, he was the faculty advisor for the school’s first gay-straight alliance club.

Second fun fact: When Walz becomes Vice President, the current lieutenant governor, Peggy Flanagan, will become the first Native American to be governor of a US state.

Tim Walz coined the phrase “weird” that makes MAGA so apoplectic. If you watch this interview, held last week, you’ll see not only where “weird” comes from, but Walz’s responses to Jake Tapper show the kind of man he is, and how he will handle himself out on the trail. As an aside, people in Minnesota point out that he’s “like everyone’s grandpa and will help you at the Home Depot.”

Believe it or not…Tim Walz is the first Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee since LBJ to have NOT attended law school. (If anyone is as much as a political junkie as I am and ALREADY KNEW that LBJ didn’t go to law school, you is my people.)
