Already, Cracks in the Wall

UPDATE: When I wrote this, it was true. When I put it in the publication queue, it was true. When I awoke after the post published, it appears that Columbia has cut a deal, so that part of this post is untrue. The rest still holds.

With great pleasure, I’m watching all the problems that the Orange Menace and his minions are facing. In addition to the lawsuits I wrote about on Friday, there are also three DOGE lawsuits. Each of the lawsuits relates to the fact that DOGE isn’t a Federal Agency because it was not created via an act of Congress, thus it can only be advisory. Specifically, it violates the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 (FACA).

Two of the lawsuits were jointly filed by Democracy Forward and Public Citizen, and the third is thanks to National Security Counselors.

Yesterday, Columbia refused to allow US military flights with deportees landing rights at any of the country’s airfields. The planes couldn’t even land to refuel and had to return back to the US. I told you months ago this would happen. The fascists can’t just do what they want, they need to coordinate with recipient countries. Venezuela, China and Cuba also, are each a hard NO. This in addition to the flight that Mexico refused on Friday.

In response, the Orange Menace placed a 25% tariff on everything coming into the country from Columbia. We do a lot of trade with them: think “100% Columbian Coffee”. Seriously, here’s a more complete list (my world always starts, ends, and depends on coffee, although I am aware that there’s more, much more). We also export a lot TO Columbia, so there will be a trade war if the US cannot meet the Columbian demand that we treat deportees like human beings, and not criminals, and that they arrive on commercial flights and not military transports. Full deets. When you read that link, you’ll find out that there are actually over 15,000 Americans without proper paperwork currently in Columbia.

Let’s talk about the fascist regime’s minions for a moment. Remember them? They wanted prices to come down, and hey, if we deport people prices will come down. (No, it never made sense to me, either, but I’m not a moron.) So here it is the end of January, just a few weeks from Valentine’s Day.

What do people buy their honeys for Valentine’s Day? Roses.

Where do roses come from? 60% come to the US from Columbia.

Basic math: what is the nationwide average of $88.61 plus a 25% tariff? $110.76.

How’s that going to play with the minions, who already can’t afford eggs?

Von Shitzenpants has also infuriated Jordan and Egypt. Since he has no understanding of history, he sees no problem asking the Jordanians and the Egyptians to “take in” Palestinians from Gaza. The response was yet another hard NO from Jordan, Egypt and the Palestinians. Source. While this will come as a shock to the idiots who voted for the Orange Menace ONLY because they didn’t like President Biden’s actions in the Middle East, the Orange Menace (along with hardliners in the Netanyahu government) want Gaza razed and all the humans gone. The Israeli hardliners because of their hatred, and the Orange Menace because he thinks he can get a resort built on the Mediterranean.

For the rest of us, we are still in favor of a two-state solution, with the Palestinians having their own, safe, land. Sure, it will take a ton of time and money to rebuild Gaza’s infrastructure, but it can get done.

In addition, living in Egypt, or Jordan, or most any other places makes Palestinians “countryless”. Palestinians are not covered by the mandate of the UNWRA, the UN refugee agency, and so they are forced to live on expired tourist visas, with no residency rights. This makes it impossible to get jobs, allow their kids to go to school, and they are forced to live on charity. One woman’s story here.

There’s domestic blowback also. When the Convicted Felon fired the 17 Inspectors General (IGs) the other night, he was in violation of laws dating back to the Carter administration. Remember, IGs were created in the wake of the downfall of Tricky Dick to preclude that ever happening again. The law says that there must be 30 days notice to Congress, and specific information on why an IG is being fired. Even Chuck Grassley wants answers. And under the category of “Von Shitzenpants is even more moronic than you thought”, it turns out that some of the IGs fired were HIS appointees during his first regime. I am not making this up. Expect a lawsuit sometime this week. All of the IGs and their staffs reported to work this morning.

And so as we start week 2 of the disaster that is the fascist regime, we know that they’ll round up more humans (including American citizens) try and deport them, which is inhumane, but we always knew he’d do it. We know that there will be legislation pushed by the Orange Menace to criminalize abortion. Everything we knew was coming IS coming. But people are pushing back. The WORLD is pushing back.

Chins up, kids. And make sure to write your elected officials and either commend them on doing the right thing, or excoriate them for what they’re doing wrong.
