A Two-fer of Gaetz and the CR

Earlier today, the ethics committee voted to release the Gaetz ethics report - likely on Friday once they flee DC. This means that at least one Rethuglican voted with the Democrats, and Axios is reporting a rumor there were two R’s. We’ll never know since it was a secret vote - but the report won’t be!!!

Here’s the pedophile’s response:

I find it funny that he “sent funds to women I dated - even some I never dated but who asked.” Call me old fashioned, but I think if a man sends money to a woman he dated, that’s, um, more like a business relationship. You know, like hooking tricks. But it could just be me misunderstanding.

Note the last line: yes! The CR was released last night, meaning they can vote at 6:35 pm Friday night under “regular order”, or more quickly under a rules suspension when the bill would need 2/3 to pass. It’s 1,500+ pages so I don’t advise reading it, but if you have insomnia, here it is.

But will it pass? Certainly not on Rethuglican votes. They are actively working against it. There are sweeteners in the omnibus CR bill (and the Farm Bill) that will attract Democratic votes. For example, SNAP stays, albeit at its current anemic levels, but at least it wasn’t cut out as the chaos caucus wanted. Plus disaster relief. However, there’s bad verbiage about trans medical care which may cause problems in the Senate.

So, we’ll see.
